How is that Juma Sultan stuff? Struck me as marginal but happy to learn otherwise. That was another box set I cast a skeptical eye upon, "You want how much for ?"
ReplyDeleteI need to hear the Frank Wright, by whatever means necessary ;-).
What is that "Stove Man" on?
It's kind of odd that Mosaic, which abandoned vinyl just as it was getting hot, now does the Coltrane "Sun Ship" on vinyl, when that type of production, with false starts, etc, is better for CD. It would have made a nice 2CD package.
Bill, where'd you score those Frank Wright LPs on Center of the World? Were those finds from your Japan trip? I've had those things on my Discogs list forever--no luck.
ReplyDeleteTony, my copy of Stove Man, Love is the Word is on Sandra.
I have no “Center of the World” records, though I deeply covet them. Of Frank Wright, I have “Frank Wright Trio” (Base/ESP), “Your Prayer” (Base/ESP), “One for John” (Get Back), and “Kevin, my dear son” (Sun Records). I was listening to digital versions of these discs to see if the material was worth the high prices. Given the current market, they would have to be closer to the $30 instead of $50 ish. I think the “Center of the World” release that might be worthy of spending a little more for would be duo between Wright & Ali called “Adieu Little Man” and the first release “Center of the World” but those are high dollar.
